NIS Drama Club Constitution
ARTICLE I: CLUB NAME
Section 1. The name of this organization shall be NIS Drama Club.
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
The mission of this club shall be:
“Support theatre/dramatic arts by raising theatrical awareness and skill, hosting theatrical productions (materials, equipment, planning etc.), marketing those productions, promoting student competition in speech competitions, and exposing students to theatre through field trips.”
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
Any student (7th or 8th grade) enrolled in the year-long drama class, who subscribe to the stated purpose, attends the NIS Drama Club membership meeting and votes in the election, has a 2.0 grade point average, and has no N’s or U’s in 6th-8th grade citizenship grades is eligible.
ARTICLE IV: OFFICER AND ADVISOR(S)
Section 1. The president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer will be elected between the 1st- 3rd meeting that is held during the current school year.
Officer candidate qualifications:
1) have a part in at least one NIS play (if play/s are given)
2) compete at a school promoted speech meet (if school competes)
3) give a 3-5 minute speech
4) attend election meeting
If no students qualify or too few qualify then the students with the greatest qualifications can run for office. In the event an officer's seat is vacated, the
next officer will take his/her place. To fill any vacant officer position, students
may run for office at the next drama club meeting and will assume the position by majority vote of the members present at the meeting.
Section 2. Executive Officer Responsibilities:
All members are expected to work as a team to accomplish any/all executive committee objectives as well as objectives made for the club.
President - play an active role in creating fund raisers and helping them to be successful. The president can present ideas to fulfill the club’s purpose.
Vice President – Assist the president in accomplishing the duties above.
Secretary – Take meeting notes, type and print meeting notes, deliver one copy to adviser and one copy to the president. Help president organize fundraiser concerning paperwork etc.
Treasurer – Keep accurate records for all fundraisers, and assist other club members with fundraising paperwork.
ARTICLE VI: ELECTIONS
The president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer will be elected anytime within the first three meetings by a simple majority of the attending club members after their speech, quality of their speech, and the success of their organized fundraiser. Success of their fundraiser will primarily be determined by money raised. Other success indicators will be the number of students who participated (buying and selling), marketing, accurate paperwork, and team work. In the event a seat is vacated, the next officer will assume the position, unless they would rather keep their position. Vacant positions will be elected by majority vote at the next drama club meeting.
ARTICLE VII: MEETINGS
Section 1. The time and place of the regular meetings of this club shall be determined by the executive committee and advisor availability.
Section 2. Meetings will be held within the scheduled school year from September to June.
ARTICLE VIII: COMMITTEES
Section 1. Executive committee will be comprised of the four officers.
Section 2. Activities committee will be formed by club members according to the tasks that need to be performed for activities and events held throughout the year and will dissolve once the task or activity has been performed. Executive committee members may be in one or more activity committees.
ARTICLE IX: AMENDMENTS
Section 1. Members shall be given at least two weeks notice of proposed amendments.
Section 2. Amendments shall require at least 2/3 majority vote of the club members present at the meeting. There must be at least three club members present.
