C.A.T.S. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
BUILDING A POSITIVE SCHOOL COMMUNITY
BEHAVIORS OUTSIDE OF CATS:
If a student exhibits behaviors outside of C.A.T.S., they will have the opportunity to write the specific C.A.T.S. expectation (below), which they need to remember for the future. Students' citizenship grade in each class will be determined by their ability to exhibit the C.A.T.S. expectations.
If student is notified he/she is outside the C.A.T.S. expectations then the student must write the following in the communication section in their planner & in the box for the date it occurred (last box in each column) during the class period:
Which expectation was not followed (be specific)?
Number of times that expectation wasn't followed during that quarter & write what needs to be turned in.
When is the reflection due?
Example:
I didn't Communicate Respectfully in 3rd period.
This is my second time not following the expectation so I need
to turn in one reflection & 2 additional expectations.
Due tomorrow on 8/16
1st Opportunity (Self Reflection):
A. Write the specific CATS expectation once (on top of the paper)
B. Write the behavior which fell outside of the CATS expectation (in the middle of the paper)
C. Write what behavior will be exhibited in the future & benefit/s (on the bottom of the paper)
2nd Opportunity:
Self Reflection + write 2 more of the specific CATS expectations for a total of 3
3rd Opportunity:
Self Reflection + write 4 more of the specific CATS expectations for a total of 5
4th Opportunity:
Self Reflection + write 6 more of the specific CATS expectation for a total of 7
5th Opportunity:
Individual Teacher Intervention
COMMUNICATE RESPECTFULLY TO BUILD PARTNERSHIPS:
I want to communicate respectfully verbally & nonverbally. Nonverbal communication includes facial expressions & body language that shows I'm listening & have a good attitude. Verbal communication includes addressing people by their name, speaking politely, silently raising my hand to get permission to ask questions in class, & giving thoughtful responses. I will avoid being impolite or appear to interrupt learning.
ACT RESPONSIBLY TO INVEST IN MY FUTURE:
I want to act responsibly because I know this will help my current & future success. I will strive to learn in class by thoroughly completing my planner daily, arriving on time, & being on task. I will use time wisely, take the initiative, and do my best whether completing & turning in an assignment, in a class discussion, studying, or taking a test. If I need help I will ask a teacher, collaborate with a student or parent, or research online.
TEAM MENTALITY TO ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO SUCCEED:
I want to practice team mentality so I can encourage others & be encouraged to be successful. I will strive to show patience, exhibit a helpful attitude, interact respectfully, & fulfill my role when I'm in a group or in a classroom discussion. I will remind others of community expectations & will show initiative to help out. I understand this is preparing me to make a positive contribution in the future within a global community.
SAFETY FIRST BECAUSE OUR TEAM'S HEALTH IS IMPORTANT:
I want to show safety first mentality by respecting the materials, equipment, & possessions of students, teachers, & the school. This means that after receiving permission to use the above, I will take special care with them to avoid property damage & injury. I will promote school safety by practicing safe personal interactions, using hall passes appropriately, keeping our campus safe, & helping school drills be successful.
